Free Online Countdown Timer
Use our free online countdown timer to set a precise number of hours, minutes, and seconds for any activity, deadline, or routine. Simply set your desired countdown duration and click Start. When the countdown reaches zero, an on-screen alert banner will appear and your selected alarm sound will play, letting you know your countdown has finished.
Test Your Timer and Alarm Sound
Before starting your countdown timer, use the Test Sound button inside the timer editor to preview the alert sound. This ensures your chosen alert tone is clear and playing at a comfortable volume level.
Start, Pause, and Reset Controls
The timer gives you complete control over your countdown:
- Click Start to begin counting down.
- Click Pause to freeze the timer at any point, and click Start again to resume right from where you left off.
- Click Reset to return the countdown timer to its original starting value whenever you need to start over.
Personalize Display Color & Sound Tones
You can customize the appearance of the digital countdown display by choosing your preferred LED digit color (Blue, Orange, Green, Red, or White) and text size. Select from 10 distinct sound tones—including Digital Beep, Classic Chime, Rooster Bell, Gentle Wake, Siren, Marimba, Radar, Nuclear Warning, 8-Bit Arcade, or Buzzer—to suit your environment.
How the Online Timer Works
The browser-based timer runs directly in your web browser without requiring any software installation. Provided the browser tab remains open, it tracks time continuously using your device's internal clock.
For the countdown to complete accurately, keep your browser tab active and ensure your computer or phone does not go into sleep or standby mode. Devices in sleep or background lock mode suspend browser activity, which can delay the alarm notification until the screen is awakened.
How to Use the Online Countdown Timer
- Click Set Timer (or choose a quick preset time button) to select your duration in hours, minutes, and seconds.
- Customize your sound preference, title label, and continuous repeat options inside the editor modal.
- Click Start to activate your countdown, and use the Pause or Reset buttons as needed.
